Protecting Welsh wildlife for future generations — one social post at a time…
WWF Cymru
Wales is under threat like never before — which is why WWF Cymru is fighting to restore habitats and species, ensuring people and nature can thrive in a cleaner, fairer, flourishing environment.
Our role? Creating compelling social media content that inspires people and institutions to tackle climate change; reverse the loss of nature; and transition to a sustainable food system — in support of WWF’s wider mission.

Our work here is far from done. But to date, our content — based on the Hero, Hub, Hygiene model — has seen us deliver a variety of (very fun) bilingual content across WWF Cymru’s Facebook, X and Instagram. From celebrating seagrass project milestones and Pride Cymru to Iwan Rheon’s love of puffins and plenty of cute otter pics — here’s how we’re playing our small part in inspiring change…
Tactics:
-
Maximising in-platform features — including Reels, carousel posts, static images, Stories.
-
Reactive content creation — leveraging playful social media trends (audio, pop-culture references, popular memes etc) and wider world news.
-
Placing a Wales-specific lens on wider environmental matters.
-
Light relief, relatable content driven by wildlife imagery.
-
Tapping into key environmental calendar hooks (e.g., Great Big Green Week, Earth Hour) and culturally-relevant in-Wales events (e.g., Pride Cymru, Hay Festival).
-
Driving proactive engagements by tagging relevant influencers, creators and organisations/brands/campaigns.
-
Highlighting relevant project milestones.
-
A dynamic approach to bilingualism — engaging both English and Welsh speakers.
-
Community engagement — interacting with comments and post reactions.
