A Monster Week for Equinox: in Numbers

We’ve had one heck of a week here at Equinox.

We surprised the public with that ferocious red dragon at Caerphilly Castle, following weeks and weeks of secret meetings and excitable planning (read about that part on Helen’s Wednesday blog post).

Let’s reflect with numerals…

…7:  the number of exclamation marks Equinox MD Eryl put on his email reply to team Cadw when we informed him Wales Online’s dragon coverage set a Trinity Mirror record for the number of story shares.

…3,812:  the number of miles away the dragon story travelled. That’s all the way to Canada, on the nation’s CTV AM morning news programme.

Naturally, to ensure the dragon wasn’t lost in translation, the newsreader was sure to provide an explainer of our patron saint’s day…

“It’s the St. Patrick’s Day of Wales!” – CTV AM Presenter, Canada

…1:  the number of days the Equinox produced dragon timelapse video sat proudly on the BBC News UK homepage. The journalist editing the page remarked he thought the footage was thoroughly “cool”.

…5.12(am):  the time poor Helen and Jamie arrived at Caerphilly Castle Tuesday morning to capture footage of the dragon’s installation. Equinox Director Zara followed closely after that, while myself and the rest of our dedicated team were up and in the office for 7.15am sharp to begin the big media sell-in.

…1,000,000:  the reach of the very first Facebook post to publish the story (again, it was the busy bees at Wales Online who broke this).

WalesOnline post goes viral

We promise we’ll stop banging on about the dragon achievements soon. But until then… a big thanks to all dragon fans who looked, who shared, who went along.  You made it a monster of a week.
