Equinox, one of Wales’ leading communications consultancies, has announced five new appointments in response to its growing client base and extension of client services.
Jamie Robins takes on role of Multimedia Manager, Mike Erskine is promoted to Senior Account Manager, Becky Campbell moves to Account Manager and Robert Doherty and Lewis Morgan start as Account Executives.
Mr Robins, aged 31 from Abertillery, joined the Equinox team in October 2013. He spent eight years as a journalist before developing his PR skills in-house at Torfaen County Borough Council. While at Equinox, Mr Robins has produced successful video-led campaigns for key clients, such as Cadw, including Lego time-lapse videos, CGI reconstructions of sites and UAV videos showing castles from the clouds. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing high quality multimedia content for consumer and corporate clients.
Zara Cottle, Director at Equinox, said: “With a surge in demand for multimedia content, especially video, from both clients and the media, we created this new role to ensure Equinox leads the way in using the latest technology to tell our client stories in an engaging way.”
Mr Erskine, aged 32, from Ystrad Mynach, moves up to Senior Account Manager following two and a half years with the company. Mike has vast experience of consumer and business communications, having previously worked in-house at Swansea University and at agencies in Swansea and Reading. He will manage the delivery of key accounts including the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, St. Modwen, Fly Tipping Action Wales (FtAW) and the Welsh Government’s Parental Engagement campaign.
Ms Campbell, aged 24, from Cardiff, joined Equinox three years ago and has helped create award-winning campaigns for Cadw, Welsh Government and STAEDTLER UK Teachers’ Club. In her new role as Account Manager, she will lead on implementing fully integrated campaigns for STAEDTLER UK, Savills and Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust.
New recruits Mr Doherty and Mr Morgan will be supporting the team across a wide range of clients.
Mr Doherty, aged 38 from Glasgow, has a background in digital communications and print production, and brings extensive web and social media experience from roles in the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh Government. He joins Equinox after serving as Cadw’s web editor for a year and half.
Mr Morgan, aged 26 from Newport, established his own greetings card company in 2012. He joined the team following the completion of an internship through the Equinox Academy. He brings his experience of running a small retail business and using online communications methods to increase awareness to his role as Account Executive.
New clients and strong account retention have led to Equinox’s most successful year to date for the Cardiff agency that turns 20 years old next year. Notable wins include the Welsh Government’s Great Taste campaign as well as DfES Parental engagement which aims to involve parents more in their children’s education. Extensions to existing contracts including Cadw, STAEDTLER, Fly-tipping Action Wales and St. Modwen have also helped achieve the best ever figures at the half year stage.
With turnover up by 22% at the half year stage (Jan – June) the agency is set to exceed its £1.6 million target for 2015 and profits have increased by more than 50% compared to the same period in 2014.
Ms. Cottle added: “The half year figures and new appointments signal a buoyant time for the agency. We’ve successfully increased fee income by nearly 35 per cent and are on track to smash all our targets for 2015. The secret of success – constantly changing to meet client needs, offering all services under one roof, a talented team and a no-nonsense, results focused approach.”
“Equinox prides itself on creating campaigns that get the desired results and is committed to the development of its staff members to ensure we have a highly skilled team to offer all our clients.”
Equinox has been voted Wales’ top agency twice in recent years in the annual Chartered Institute of PR Awards, last year won gold awards for best use of social media, media relations and evaluation. The agency has been shortlisted for 10 awards this year with results released in October.
