Value Wales was established in 2002 by the Welsh Assembly Government to drive improvements in procurement practice across the entire public sector in Wales and act as a catalyst for savings within the economy, environment and communities of Wales.
Equinox was commissioned to develop and implement an effective communications strategy to improve awareness and understanding of the aims, objectives and progress of Value Wales within the Welsh public sector, and amongst Welsh suppliers of goods and services to the public sector.
The work of Value Wales is varied and complex, therefore the communications strategy was launched with a proactive media relations campaign, with an educational theme, developed to support the ongoing work of Value Wales and its varied and numerous initiatives.
We introduced a quarterly newsletter where Equinox managed the design, copy writing, translation, printing and distribution of the publication.
To demonstrate Value Wales in action and highlight its successes case studies were drafted to complement media articles, use in marketing literature and populate their website.
Equinox also organised and managed the first ever all-Wales ‘Transforming Procurement’ conference and exhibition, where more than 300 delegates attended.
Through implementing a sustained communications strategy the campaign gained extensive coverage in local, national and trade media.
In a survey undertaken by the Value Wales among public sector professionals, it was revealed that awareness of the organisation had increased by 48 per cent within the first 12 months.
