The Sustainable Development Commission, the Welsh Assembly’s independent advisory body on sustainable development, commissioned Equinox to manage its Celtic Nations Conference.
The second of its kind and first to be held in Cardiff, the Conference was to showcase innovative sustainable development projects from Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, bringing practitioners together to share and promote best practice.
The Conference featured keynote speeches from the First Minister of Wales, the Scottish Executive’s Head of Environment and the Chair of the SDC.
Equinox provided a range of services for the Conference including event management, delegate and speaker arrangements and the provision of AV facilities and staffing.
To ensure the smooth management of the event, a series of meetings and progress reports were organised with SDC. Equinox provided and managed a registration database and was the first point of contact for the delegates, providing a full service including local hotel and sustainable travel information.
Equinox also provided bi-lingual packs. Equinox liaised with a local AV company to provide staging and PA facilities for the main hall and four break-out areas.
Finally, Equinox disseminated messages from the conference by producing an on-line bi-lingual post-conference report.
The event ran at full capacity with 200 delegates.
Eighteen speakers presented at the conference and feedback from Evaluation Forms was overwhelmingly positive with calls for a further conference in 2007.
Following the success of the event, Equinox was commissioned to produce a post-conference report which was circulated to all those who attended and key stakeholders across the UK.
